Student Volunteers Needed for the VITA Program

Come participate in the VITA and learn how you can make a difference.
The UWest VITA Program in the Department of Business Administration is looking for volunteers to participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Our volunteers will help low-income individuals and families as well as senior citizens, non-English speakers, and the disabled prepare their 2012 Individual Federal Tax Returns as well as CA State Tax Returns.
All volunteers are required to go through a rigorous training program and pass the VITA certification exams before they can offer tax preparation services, and they will be supervised by Dr. Chi Sheh, the Director of Service Programs at UWest.
In addition, students that enroll in the MBA596 Special Topics - US Income Tax will receive three units of elective course credit. (Undergraduate are also eligible to receive credit for this course) VITA is open to students of all majors. No prior tax knowledge is required to join.
